1.Dans le futur, un père ne sait que faire de son fils né difforme et vivant de se fait très isolé. Dans un premier temps les autorités ne lui proposent que l’euthanasie, mais se ravisent en suggérant au jeune homme de participer à l’installation d’une colonie terrienne sur une planète où existe déjà une autre civilisation.
2.Après avoir traversé un étrange orage Ann Bolt parvient dans une maison très futuriste. Elle comprend progressivement qu’elle a fait un bond de 20 ans dans le futur et que le propriétaire des lieux n’est autre que son jeune fils, devenu adulte.
3.En Afrique noire, le Major Crosby mène l’enquête après que l’un de ses compatriotes, un ethnologue, sait inexplicablement disparu. Crosby s’intéresses aux agissements du redoutable shaman Logoda, qu’il soupçonne d’avoir assassiné l’Anglais. Logoda tire sa magie d’une collection de têtes réduites lui assurant un grand pouvoir, mais Crosby va recevoir l’aide inattendue de la jeune Kyro.
