1.Justus, écrivain brillant mais très imbu de lui-même, traite avec mépris sa voisine Elizabeth qui s’est éprise de lui. Mais Justus souffre d’une violente arachnophobie et quand il aperçoit une araignée de la taille d’un chien dans sa chambre, il se réfugie chez Elizabeth. Mais l’amoureuse éconduite lui réserve un tour cruel.
2.Un couple endormi est réveillé par son enfant, qui réclame qu’on lui apporte un verre d’eau. Le père est réticent, mais finit par s’exécuter. On s’aperçoit alors que son fils n’est pas un charmant bambin.
3.Alors qu’il photographiait des couguars, le journaliste Roger Blacker se perd en forêt, sous une pluie battante. Il est recueilli dans la résidence secondaire d’un célèbre chirurgien. Afin d’impressionner celui-ci, il affirme être capable de prédire l’avenir. 4.M. Holston, riche homme d’affaires, vient visiter une académie militaire où il entend placer son fils turbulent. Le directeur lui fait découvrir les différentes parties d’un établissement
